But you won't believe what the vase is disguising. I used a toilet brush holder!
My husband hates the toilet brush holder. Wish I knew why. He also hates the toilet brush, but not as passionately. I got the toilet brush and a few other plastic pieces from around the house. Washed and sanitized them with Scrubbing Bubbles, then peroxide. Then I got started on my faux-Adobe brick vase.
The toilet brush holder is on the right. I first painted the white holder with Tuscan Orange Mineral Paint, then I painted over that with Apple Barrel Brown Oxide. That sounds technical, but they are just nice Latex paints. I used three quick coats of the orange and maybe two of the brown, painting downward and leaving brush marks on purpose. I did not paint the inside because someday I might put a flameless light in the vase.
I'm sorry, that treasure box is for another day. I dabbed Apple Barrel Spring Green to make the vase more rustic. The dabbing was across in very rough rows, and some I extended down as if moss or mold is growing on the vase.I just did my touch ups, it will be cute.
There is no back to the plastic material. I put a little blue paint on the daisies I will use for this vase. The daisies were just hanging around until I was finished with the green splotches. I will use a sealer when I get some no-gloss so the vase can still look dusty.
This is how my work station looked without other projects butting in. But the rascals just kept landing on my portable writing/craft table.
So here is my paint project-- a faux adobe, faux brick, faux vase. Use a single flower, or a simple bouquet, as long as they are faux, or sitting in their own glass of water inside the vase.
Happy honey?

Suggested materials:
- An empty clean toilet brush holder, originally bought at the dollar store for $1. (I used 1!4 ounce of Tuscan Orange mineral paint, three colors mentioned in the post of Apple Barrel Latex Paint; a foam brush, and no embellishments.)
- Not blue paint--it's Spring Green and brown. Walmart had them on sale a few weeks ago for 50c, so I bought a lot--online with free delivery

I think the that could easily become a bird's nest, a bird feeder, an electric candle holder, or potted plant holder with a piece of cardboard in a baggy for a back wall, and on and on. Dollar Tree, Dollar General , for supples (donate the brushes if you don't want to keep them) and don't tell anybody what that is. 😇
