Painted Vintage Books

1 Hour
Easy
This is a simple project that gave me a way to relove some old books I no longer needed. I made these colorful painted vintage books with a little chalk type paint, a few stencils and some creative waxing as a unique way to update a vignette on my sofa table for spring. Please see my blog post for more information or details.
Adding some fresh color to these old books gave me a way to brighten up my sofa table with a litte character.
I use old books a lot for decorating, stacking and filling in space in my vignettes. The dark color wasn't working well with my spring colors.
I gave a few of my books a coat of chalk type paint. Be sure to paint the inside edges of the book cover also. Next I used a few stencils to add some pattern and interest.
The pages were a tad ratty so I took bright gold stencil creme and rubbed it along the edges.
I waxed the books, just like you'd wax a piece of furniture. I added gold mica to the clear wax for the white book and a little white paint to the wax on the other two books.
