Well, there was a heat wave this summer and I had to come up with some indoor activities to keep the kids inside during the high temps. So, they worked with me to create some cool outdoor owls. My daughter, Rearden, did most of the work on this so it was a joint effort.
I started with this awful looking ceramic owl that was green and red originally. I painted a top coat over it with a Country Chic white paint in order to give my kiddo a "fresh canvas" to work with.
Next, we set up cardboard mats and pinned hair back to turn it into a proper painting party. I laid out a box of cheap acrylic Paints from Michaels and let them pick out the ones they wanted to work with.
Next, I let them take their artistic abilities and fly. They had a blast and almost forgot about how hot they were!
They each had a different approach to their work so it was fun to see what they were making. After they were done and had taken a bubble bath they helped me to dust the owls with a spritz of rustoleum Gold spray paint.
My girls are thrilled with the outcome and it's both a creative product from my kiddo's and pretty enough to showcase on the front door stoop. What do you think?
