Doilies are the type of crochet projects that you can crochet throughout the year. They are excellent crochet projects for both beginners and experienced crocheters.


Today am sharing the pattern for this beautiful delicate doily - Pinwheel Crochet Swirl Doily. They would be great for you to use to decorate your dining table and home. I am sure you will enjoy crocheting it. The pattern is very simple and can be made in any size of your choice. These doilies also make great housewarming gifts and you can make them in any color you love.


Materials Used:-
  • 3 Ply Cotton Yarn
  • 3 mm Crochet Hook
Size:-14 Inches - can be customized to any size


Notes:-


For this whole Pattern, the Starting Chain 2 is not counted as a stitch. It is Just to bring the yarn to a working height. Start the next stitch in the same stitch.

Round 1:-Start with a Magic Circle.


12 Double Crochets in the circle.Pull the yarn end to close the gap.Slip Stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.12 Stitches.



Round 2:-Chain 2.


2 Double Crochets.Chain 2.Repeat(2DC,Chain 1)


Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.


24 stitches and 12 Chain 1 spaces.



Round 3:-


Chain 2.


1 Double Crochet, 2 Double Crochets, Chain 1.


Repeat((1DC,2DC),Chain 1)


Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.


36 stitches 12 Chain 1 spaces.





Round 4:-


Chain 2.


1 Double Crochet in 2 Stitches, 2 Double Crochets, Chain 1.


Repeat((1DC*2,2DC),Chain 1)


Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet.


48 stitches 12 Chain 1 spaces.



Round 5 to Round 12:-Keep repeating round 4 untill you reach the size needed.


Remember to :-
  • Start each round with Chain 2. Start the next stitch in the same stitch.
  • With each round ,keep increasing the starting number of stitches with 1.
  • Chain 1 after the increase stitch.


The Pattern for the increase will be as below:-Round 5 - ((1DC*3,2DC),Chain 1)..... 60 StitchesRound 6 - ((1DC*4,2DC),Chain 1)..... 72 StitchesRound 7 - ((1DC*5,2DC),Chain 1)..... 84 StitchesRound 8 - ((1DC*6,2DC),Chain 1)..... 96 StitchesRound 9 - ((1DC*7,2DC),Chain 1)..... 108 Stitches..... and so on...!!!






Border:-Chain 1(Not counted as a stitch)1 Single Crochet in each stitch untill the Chain 1 Space.(5 Double Crochets, Chain 2, 5 Double Crochets) - all in the same space.Repeat(1SC in each stitch untill the chain 1 space,(5DC,Ch2,5DC)-in chain 1 space)






Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 4:-Ch 2.1 DC in 2 Stitches, 2 DCs, Ch 1.Repeat((1DC*2,2DC),Ch 1)SL on top of the first DC.48 stitches 12 Ch 1 spaces.


Round 5 to Round 12:-Keep repeating round 4 untill you reach the size needed.


Border:-Ch 1(Not counted as a stitch)1 SC in each stitch untill the Ch 1 Space.(5 DCs, Ch 2, 5 DCs) - all in the same space.Repeat(1SC in each stitch untill the Ch 1 space,(5DC,Ch2,5DC)-in Ch 1 space)

    A forgotten art. I have so many of grandma's crocheted doilies. Some are very intricate and I have dyed them with Rit dye for the holidays. Red and green for Christmas, Yellow, pink and light blues for Easter and Oranges for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Thank you for bringing back this art to peoples attention.
