Create pressed flower photo frames to honor ‘Mom’ and celebrate Mother’s Day.

I found some hinged glass photo frames recently at HomeGoods for $5.99 each, with a sliding locket / beaded clasp closure. The printed paper image in the frame of the pressed flowers was my inspiration for flower embellished frames to honor Mom for Mother's Day.

I had fun picking flowers from my garden containers and shrubs,

choosing those that were relatively flat to press inside the frames.

I used Verbena, Bridal Wreath Spirea, Snowball Viburnum petals,

Fan Flower (scaevola) and leaves from an abelia shrub.

I cut the individual flowers and petals off the verbena, viburnum and spirea. I used tweezers to help place the smaller flowers. A glue dot was used to secure the photos to the inner glass pane of the frame. Glue dots are double-sided adhesive dots that are repositionable, suitable for paper, plastic, metal, wood and glass surfaces. You could also use double-sided tape if you prefer.

The flowers will dry inside the frames or you could press

and dry your flowers first, before adding them to your frames. I like how vivid and bright the flowers appear before they fade and dry.

This is my mom, "Mary Frances" when she was a girl.

And my mother-in-law, "Betty" in her wedding dress. I used a photo copy of the original wedding photo so any moisture from the flowers and leaves wouldn't damage the original picture.

Here is how the frames with the flowers looked about 10 days later to give you an idea of how they will dry, fading and shrinking in size. This is a fun project and a pretty addition and way to dress up photo frames to commemorate weddings, birthdays or graduations too!

You can see the frames at an alfresco table for Mother's Day, HERE.

If you can’t spend this Mother’s Day with your mom, may

she be with with you in your in heart and memories. ♥
