Rock painting isn't just for kids! You can do it too, and I promise it will be fun. ;) I used pretty botanical stencils and chalk paint in soothing shades of blue and green to stencil these rocks. Perfect for scattering among your garden or using as patio decor.
The first step is finding some good rocks! For me, that meant asking my neighbors if I could "borrow" some from their landscaping! :) You can nice big rocks with at least one flat side. For the other supplies I used:
- Martha Stewart Chalk Paint and Wax
- Chalk Paint Brush
- Martha Stewart Stencils
They turn out so pretty when painted! I ended up returning my neighbors rocks to her as a little gift. :)
Step 1: Wash and dry the rocks, and then cover with 1-2 coats of chalk paint.
Step 2: Place your stencil over the rock and secure with painter's tape. Use an up and down blotting motion to apply a light amount of white chalk paint with a foam brush.
Step 3: Lift your stencil to reveal your pretty design!
Step 4: Finish with a coat of clear wax. This will add a nice sheen to the rock and also help protect it a bit from the elements.
