Thank you so much! I'm excited to try this. I've made soap before and have supplies on hand. Great idea!

      Thanks again!

Put them down your garbage disposal to make it sweet smelling. Make potpourri by adding other ingredients to the dried orange rinds.

That's what I do with them, love the citrus fragrance in the kitchen from the garbage disposal.

Put them in the garden around your plants that the slugs love to eat. Slugs don't like the smell of the orange.

I'll do that for sure! we have plenty of slugs come Garden time!Thank you.

I must try this. Have used egg shells and coffee grounds since they don't like crawling on them.

I put orange rinds in a mason jar. Fill with vinegar and let it sit for 2 weeks. The vinegar is then used to clean with put has a much less vinegary smell.

I have placed orange/grapefruit/lemon/lime rinds in a large glass jar along with vinegar and let it sit. Then when you need a garbage disposal freshener simply scoop out 1/2 cup of the mixture and use in your disposal. Smells great and its always available.

When I was a little girl, my mother would take the orange and grape fruit rinds that had been cut in half (when they were whole) and she would turn them inside out. Then attach a string to both sides . Fill with birdseed and hang them outside a window on a branch come winter 🙂Feed the birds !

Thank you! If I leave a little fruit of the Orange hanging on, I can attract and feed butterflies too!

let them dry and use for room freshener, another idea i recently was someone took a fresh orange cut it in half, scooped out the orange left the wick type thing in the middle of the orange then filled it with cooking oil and lit the wick, haven't tried it yet but I am going to, they said it smells heavenly lol

I save the rinds when someone eats an orange. Put the rinds in a mason jar, fill with vinegar and let sit for 2 weeks. The result is vinegar for cleaning but most of the vinegar smell is gone.

You can make delicious candy with orange rinds! Clean them well and scrap out the white stuff on the inside. Cut them into slices and cook in a syrup made with a cup of water and two cups of sugar. Drain them and then cool on waxed paper for a day. You can dip the ends in chocolate too. You can also dry orange rind (again, scrape out the white stuff, it is bitter). You can either sun dry or dry in a dehydrator. When totally dry grind and use in cooking, to flavor tea, etc.

In the fall, when the small boxes of clementine arrive in our Canadian grocery stores, I start to save the peels for my gardens and large iron planters. I put the peels into empty plastic containers and let them dry out. Those slippery slimy snails hate the smell of citrus rinds and last for months!
