They let you wrangle all your cords into 1 black "sleeve". Such a tidy solution.
You can also purchase cable concealers and paint to match the wall.
Finally, if you are very handy you can run them inside the wall put a plate, similar to an outlet, where the wires go in and out.

Cord covers are my preferred choice. Many can be painted to make them disappear. Sold everywhere, but best selection in my area are office supply shops.
