Are 2 inch thick shelves available (not floating)?

I want white open shelves for my kitchen with lovely white wooden brackets. All I find in chunky shelves are floating style. I may have to use 2 by 12 boards and paint, but will that be too heavy?

My sister had some hollow bi-fold doors. I separated them into 4 shelves, filled the holes, sanded then painted white for the office.. it worked great since they were in a corner so the open end wasn't an issue..

Attach some decorative molding/trim from the home improvement store to the front edge of the shelves and sides (if exposed)to give them a thicker appearance.
They will cut it for you at the store & get you the correct nails or adhesive to attach the trim. Have your measurements available-the shelves, not your physique 😉

    Try Scaffold boards
