I've found that the only difference is, the stuff at the pricey stores come in different shapes and sizes. Therefore, they are more costly. Other than that, the more pricey one are longer in length. My Dollar Tree solar LED lights last just as long as the others.
They are not as bright and I found they burn out quicker then a little bit more expensive ones
It depends on the usage you will have for them. The cheaper led string lights are not as bright, but will do in most cases. The pricier stores sometimes sell the same lights as the Dollar stores so you have to watch out for that. Just because it is in a pricier stores doesn't necessarily make them any safer.
I love the dollar store for sooo many things, but I'd spend a little extra on them unless it's for a temporary purpose.
