Making a shell mirror, what is the best glue type?

I would like to make a shell mirror, a large one, but I don't know quite how to go about it ESPECIALLY what type of glue is the strongest that holds the longest and won't yellow and can stand the heat the sun if someone hangs the mirror I make near or in a room that gets lots of direct sun light. Can you help me? I'd really appreciate it, thank you.

I did one using the seashells collected when we lived in the Virgin Islands. It is 30x40 inches in size and I glued a border 3&1/2 inches wide on all 4 sides. It has a home in my guest bathroom. I just used Elmers' glue. Has been there many years and the dampness from the shower has not affected it. I wish I knew how to post a picture, because it really is beautiful.. I don't know about a problem with sunlight, as this bathroom is interior, no widows. I also found a shower curtain in a seashell pattern, and several other bathroom objects.

I would use e6000. It last forever and doesn't loosen up when in direct sunlight.

One other option is a hot glue gun...a mini sounds like it would do the job nicely...this glue dries hard and lasts a long long time!
  • E6000 is definitely the way to go if you are looking for strength and longevity.

E6000 never turns yellow. I use it on jewelry all the time. Rhinestones never yellow. Good luck.
