I picked up this desk if you will but there is no maker or marks that I can find to tell me what year it is from or what it actually is. I appreciate any information that anyone can offer.
It looks like a desk to me
This opens but doesn't stay open
This also opens and has some small compartments
Perhaps it is a drawing board?

It appears to be a Drafting Table from the 1960s - My brothers worked on similar ones in High School.

@Debra i googled and found similars called school desk or clerks desk the top part was usually then attched to a stand, the words old, vintage,or antigue were in front of everyone of them, if i were you i would take it to a local antique shop to see if you have found a treasure xx

OK so now we think we know what it is so here is my next question. I paint and refinish distressed furniture to save it from the land fill. So are there any idea's as to what I should do with this desk? I sell my furniture at a flea market so I need it to be something that I would be able to sell

Sell it as a desk, many parents look for these for thier teens...or as a piano stool...good luck

A good desk for home schoolers... It looks just like some of the desks I went through google and saw..except they had the seats attached. Alot of the desk tops were like yours..slanted and had both sides open. One part would be for pens and rulers..etc and the other for books I expect.

we had those in all our schools years ago, they changed to tables and chairs in the late 60's.

@Jayne Hall-Pennington mine is much larger then it appears in the picture, it is not a small school desk. The research that I have done tells me it is a School Masters Desk from the early 1900's.
