I can think of no reason you couldn't. Unless you found some sort of experimental ball they are hard plastic all the way through, just different types and densities.

The finger holes in bowling balls are done on a drill press ( I worked in sporting goods yrs ago), so you certainly can! You'll need a really long bit, and something to hold the ball securely while drilling. (D'ONT attempt to hold it with your hands! The bit can slip, the ball can shift and easily cause an injury!)
A long bit and a drill press to hold the ball and safety glasses. If it is the first time using a drill press, practice first with the press. Also, no long loose sleeve around press. Safety first.
Thank-you.. My son actually mentioned using a drill press.
about the drill press idea....no flowing beards---think duck dynasty...no pony tails or long hair...tuck it into your shirt high rpm, slow feed, and plenty of water to flush out shavings as they will melt together in the hole, and absolutely no jewelry--rings, bracelets, or chains....be safe, not sorry...that's how finger holes are created in bowling balls
Thank-you
