This video uses recycled candle wax, but you can certainly use new paraffin to make your candles, friend.

My mom and I made a bunch of them when I was younger for a Childrens Hospital bazaar they had every year. We used paraffin melted with crayons melted in it to get the colors we wanted. She poured some into the container she was using as molds for a base, we put in crushed ice and then poured the paraffin into the mold to the level she wanted, but not above the ice and let the paraffin cool. Of course the wick went in before we put anything in the mold. They sold really well. Of course we made a few for ourselves to keep for the house. I also made these in girl scouts, which is what made my mom think about them to make for the bazaar along with the other craft things she made to be sold.

I've done the same thing. You could also place a thinner regular candle inside your mold and then put your ice around between the inner candle and the mold. Use different colors for variety.
