Do you mean sofa pillows? At Christmas I took two big red Christmas napkins and tied them at the corners...looked really festive. Took two...one for each side of the pillow and after Christmas was easy to remove. I have even tied the corners with tinsel for a real festive look...you could put small poinsettias on each corner also. I tie back my kitchen curtains with poinsettias each holiday season.
If you’re looking for a bit more formal, you can make an “envelope” of fabric, using self-stick Velcro. They won’t take heavy usage, but could be attractive and crisp.
Use iron-on adhesive tape. It comes in rolls in the notions department of grocery stores and Dollar stores. Hem tape. It's temporary, but will work until you wash the slip cover.
