Crafters: I need your help with an idea

Question

I've made sitting elves for place cards and now I need an idea of what I can find, inexpensively, to sit them on, a base, as I need to glue them down to the base so that they won't tip. It'll need to be about 3' - 4' in diameter. Any thoughts are much appreciated.

How cute! If you need them to be raised off the table, you might consider little papier-mache craft boxes from a craft shop like Michael's, JoAnn Fabric or Hobby Lobby. You can leave them natural or give them a quick coat of paint to coordinate with the rest of your table setting. Tuck a few chocolates inside for an extra treat after dinner!

I would make miniature garden benches to let the elves sit on them. 2 sides, a sitting board and a board to lean against. Made out of 3mm plywood it would be quickly done.

I would try foam or paper mache balls the size you need, cut a little off the bottom so it is flat and will sit on a round wooden circle you can find in hobby stores. Spray the balls with artificial snow or coat with glue and roll in the bagged artificial snow. You can either glue the elves to the ball or use lins or just cut off a little to flatten like the bottom and sit your elves on these snowballs.

Go to a dollar store and find those small ornaments that are shaped & decorated like presents and use for the elves to sit on!

Go to the thrift store and find a mixture of mismatched glass stemware (usually around 50 cents apiece or so). Tip them up-side-down over a glass ball ornament, and sit an elf on the base of the stemware (which is now the top), which is now a 'seat' for the elf to sit on.
