I want to decorate the shelf wall in my living room. It’s 13’ and it’s about 4’ from the ceiling. Any suggestions?

Hi Debbie, glass vases and books are some of my favorite things to decorate with. Another nice idea would be a fake plant to add some fresh greenery to the space.
buy old books at thrift stores and add them - find pieces you like to decorate the shelf- you could add old toys, antiques, even add a bar to hang a quilt
This is an opportunity for you to get creative. You could disply artwork by using mid-size easels and placing the art on them. Also the area would be a great place for lanterns, large urns or decorative pots and even large ceramic or brass animal decor items. Have fun with it and try a few different things, you'll know when it's exactly right! You could also use it as storage very seldom used items.....just decorate some cardboard boxes with fabric, paint or paper so they're unique. Baskets could be used as well.
We ran with our modern farm house theme by putting homemade things on our shelves. Like huge wooden dice, huge metal jacks (those weren't hand made), a rolling pin cut into lengths and votive candles added, hand carved statues and even a hundred year old wooden candy box.
To get around the problem of dusting them I use a handheld swiffer on a pole extension so I don't climb up to dust nearly as often.
Just put stuff out what displays your personality and what you like not what is trendy or popular at the moment.
If you are artistic or crafty this is an opportunity to display your work.

The photo is very helpful. A collection of objects pleasing to you might be recommended. Sculpture, books faux plants florals or a favorite collection might be suggested
This is a great way to display any collections you have. I've seen these shelves decorated with vintage luggage, old crocks, children's chairs, etc.
Wicker baskets and some fake greenery? Those would be easy to take down and clean a couple times a year.

Hi, I would use a Satin finish or Eggshell finish paint!
Use it as a gallery wall with all different sized photos and art work
You could add an LED strip the length of the shelf and then add some colored glass ... my friend did this with his extensive cobalt glass collection all around his living room.
Make the back wall interesting by painting an accent color or wallpaper.
