Glass etching cream?

Jann
by Jann
Is there an alternative or a homemade recipe for this? I've been reading that the store bought product doesn't always work well. I want to make a few personalized Christmas gifts and getting right if I can on the first try!

Jann, I have used Armour Etch (found at Michael's) on clear glass with great success, but you have to leave it on for at least 20 minutes not 5 per the directions. I use vinyl as a stencil cut w/ my Cricut. I'm not aware of a homemade version, it 'll be interesting to see if someone else posts one.

I use an air eraser with aluminum oxide media. You have to use an air compressor with the air eraser to do the etching. I use my KNK electronic cutter to make stencils. I sell on Etsy. I've sold a lot of etched pie plates in the last few weeks. If there is a something and can't get it completed, I would be glad to help you!

Can you etch a photo on a glass vase?
