Hi Lisa, you can make a very inexpensive and attractive room divider by using cardboard from large appliance boxes. Stores that sell appliances will sometimes give away refrigerator boxes they have from floor model appliances and are happy to get rid of them. Here's a video sowing how to apply fabric to multi-density fiberboard but cardboard could suffice in a pinch. Instead of stapling you might use spray adhesive.

Lisa....If you have some long window shutters you can put them together with brackets. You can also use louvered closet doors. Good luck

You can make a room divider with shutters. Attach the shutters together with hinges. Using hinges will give you the ability to fold it down and store it under your bed. You can buy the shutters and the hinges at your local home improvement store. Paint or stain them to go with your decor.
Hi ! Years ago , I bought a couple of inexpensive bookcases . ( you can find a tall 5 shelf bookcase for around $30-$40 , at Wal-Mart mart , k mart or IKEA ) In my case I was using this to divide a bedroom . I faced them in opposite directions , so each child has a book case , and the flat back of the other bookcase , which I covered with cork files to be used to hang posters , artwork , calendars or school assignments .
I don't know what room areas you are trying to divide , but but using bookcases ,
you are giving yourself more storage area ! You don't have to have them facing in opposite directions , remember you can just paint the back side of the shelves , or use wallpaper .
Hi Lisa check out these ideas on Hometalk:

Also, it is definitely worth a look to check out IKEA. They have amazing room divider ideas from their open bookshelves to ceiling mounted track draperies. I love going there for ideas and they are very affordable as well.
We just put up rope in our girls bedroom (ages 10 and 6) and wanted their own space, even though the room is huge. Then we hung 2 pretty shower curtains on the rope so now each girl has their own side.
