I made a quick frame out of scrap wood to keep the pegboard at least an inch from the wall. Nothing special, some 2x 4s screwed into the wood. em. Then attach the pegboard and start organizing!
I used some left over 1"x 2" boards and made a frame. I attached it to the back of the pegboard. Then I put some long screws in each corner. The back frame helped give me the space behind to attach the metal pegs. Good luck!
Hello Lynn; I too used spare wood and created a frame for my piece of pegboard.
It is very easy to do, and the pegboard makes your space look much cleaner.

I use leftover wood like 1/2" by 3" , two strips, one at top and one at bottom fastened into the studs somewhere. Then I put the peg board on top using screws. This leaves room for the various types of hooks and hangers to fasten into the board.
