How can I cover over old tabletop material on my walls?

This is old house somebody used the old material used on 60-70 s tables the marble stuff, on half of walls and backsplash? I've never seen this used on walls before! I hate it HELP PLEASE

    I think it's a laminate. I've seen it used in older mobile homes. Tear it off or cover it with wood paneling. Paint it..after sanding it. Good Luck

      Lamont’s yes I couldn’t remember what it was called ugh! Thanks I think tear if off, don’t think it would be paintable? Thank you

    Hi Jill is there anyway to remove it? If not perhaps you can cover it up .Create a “garden look “ with fence posts and flowers, or if this a room where you could use a chalk board paint it with chalk paint ,voila! One new chalkboard.( some stores carry a variety of colors too) Depending on the area could you cut the piece out and create inset shelving ? Don’t forget there’s also stencil , paint it one solid color and use stencils or perhaps kids handprints Even lace!
