A store like Lowes or Home Depot will often have damaged hollow core doors at a very inexpensive price, or try somewhere like a Habitat Re-Store. These can be stained, painted or covered with fabric or trimmed out with molding. The possibilities are endless.

1.Put batting and fabric over wood,
    2. Hang a vintage door
    3. Mount some shelving
    4. Hang a mirror horizontally
    5. Hang a series of matching frames with kids/animals/wildlife
    6. Repurpose a wooden pallet

  • I have a few thoughts. One is to scrounge shops where they recycle used construction items such as panel doors. You can find doors in very good shape and if it is a six panel door, you should be able to hang it on the wall or just add legs to attach to the bed.

Another option is to get a piece of plywood and drill holes in it in even spaces. Spray the wood with liquid glue and attach a layer of batting. You can then take thread or wire and put buttons on the front for tufting and and pull them tight . Then carefully staple the excess fabric to the back of the wood and trim.

Ive seen people make a great feature wall by taking old wood painting it different colors and nailing it to the wall. Cheap and fast. You can even use old pallets for a rustic look. Just make sure they weren't treated with chemicals.

If you want a softer look, hang a couple wreaths on the wall and hang some tulle or light inexpensive fabric to drape down the sides of the back of the bed.

Fake it! Hang a beautiful shower curtain on a unique rod over the bed or plan out the shape of a headboard and fill in with photos or artwork. Not only will it be unique, but you can change the "headboard" any time you want to.
