You can use an awl or heavy needle to add deep lines or cracks in the wood to give it a worn look. Driftwood is very smooth and rounded, so it needs to be very well sanded-- almost over sanded. Round over some edges, remove some of the detail in the frame. Use the awl to chip out a bit of wood at the edges of the frame and sand those down as well. You can also "beat" the wood a bit-- a hammer, a bit of chain-- and sand that down as well to get that smooth texture of driftwood.
I cannot think that any artificial process could duplicate what happens as a piece of wet wood tumbles in the surf, hits rocks and debris, is gnawed on by sea creatures, sun bleached, and does this over time. Slowly sand blasting and a gray stain may produce a desirable result but would take a lot of practice. That's why people value driftwood.
