How do I make my lampshades work?
Hello
Recently bought two lamp shades to fit a pair of lamps that I recently bought. I have tried the stores but they want a fortune so I bought off of a buy and sell. Shades are the right length but the wire in the middle as to where it fits on the lamp is too far down the lamp shades. So the shade is sitting up too high. Is there anyway I can cut those wires off and adjust? Or can you buy new wires and attach to the shade?

Hi Dorothy, you can buy a lampshade conversion kit on amazon. Here's one example that could work for your shades - https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Converts-Standard-Lampshade-Opening/dp/B07SFYLMCR
I think they are made for a different kind of lamp however you may be able to rig something if you purchase something like this https://amzn.to/3CNQEPu . It is however an extra expense.
An adapter that others have suggested may work, but it may just be easier to get new shades. Bring a lamp with you so you can try it first.
Could you adapt it with a bulb clip on? They are about $5-6.
This is the object that Redcatcec is referring to:
It clips on to a bulb, to convert a lamp originally made for a collar/Uno lampshade, to one that now has a harp clip to screw the shade onto.
No you need bigger shades if you cut the wires the lamp shade will not stay up
There are different types of lampshade fittings.
It is not entirely clear what type you have. If you post a picture so we can see exactly what you are starting with, we would be better able to offer you suggestions on which solution may work the best for you.
The first image below shows different types of lampshade fittings.
The second image shows the wide range of sizes that lamp harps come in.
Hello. Posting a photograph of your precise situation might be helpful.
As mentioned above the wire supports called a harp do come different sized heights.
I have changed height myself by putting a shorter harp in place.
It involves sliding a locking cylinder upwards and squeezing the existing harp off the lamp mount clips.
Then a replacement a desired size can be replaced. Hope this helps

here are some idea if you can’t cut the wire. https://www.thespruce.com/ways-to-refurbish-lamp-shade-2878996
I fin$ that when you keep them plugged in the entire night to get a full charge the6 tend to work much better. I also prefer hard wired as opposed to solar wireless.
