My white fridge had rust spots under the side with the water/ice dispenser. I tried a little bottle of appliance paint which worked for a while, but then it flaked off. The fridge is too old (18 years) to put a lot of money into fixing it, so I got white board contact paper and covered the lower door. No more rust spots and I can write on it with Dry-Erase markers.
