How do I work with Mod Podge?

I'm redoing a dresser and trying to cover the top with heavy wrapping paper (because it fits the motif) and mod podge. I'm working with a 24" x 15" piece and can't figure out how to do it without wrinkles. I'd like some brilliant advice before I make my third attempt. Thank you in advance!P. S. I wouldn't be opposed to other application ideas.

Try using 3M Super 77 Spray adhesive.

I'm not familiar with the 3M product William mentions, but I have used mod Podge frequently for all types of projects. I would tear the wrapping paper into jagged pieces instead of using a flat sheet. Put a layer of MP on the top of the dresser. Then place a piece of paper on it. Keep this up to cover the entire top. Let it dry completely then add another layer of MP. Let this dry completely. Coat it with several thin coats of a clear sealer like urathane (brush or spray)

  • there are scraper tools you can get that help get get wrinkles out - plus do not over apply the glue under or over the paper.
