Here are some ideas for decorating wth houseplants:
https://www.realsimple.com/home-organizing/decorating/house-plants
Your room should have a focal point. If you have a fireplace, place a large painting, mirror (if it will reflect something nice), etc. and flank it with a couple of candlesticks, a stack of books, something you have collected (such as a snow globe, for example). Set a grouping of three flowerpots on the heart on one side.
If you do not have a fp, you could use a bookcase as a focal point, and intersperse your pots on the shelves. Google "how to decorate a bookcase" for tips.
A window can also be a focal point. Get a short bookcase of plant stand for under it and display your flower pots there. Thrift stores are great sources for plant stands!
Every seat should have a table within reach. Dress tables with an odd number of items, and don't crowd tabletops. For example, a coffee table might have a tray with a candle, a stack of small books, and a vase of flowers. On the other end there might be a houseplant, and lying next to it, a beautiful bowl (you could even put coasters in this bowl). An end table might have a lamp, something you've collected that guests might pick up and ask you about, and a framed photo. Also, keep these items of varying heights. For example, the lamp might be tall, the photo might be 12" H, and the personal item 5"H.
On your sofa, change out your toss pillows and a cozy throw with the seasons. Lighter colors and fabrics for spring/summer, heavier colors and fabrics for the fall/winter ones.
And don't forget the power of the dollar at the thrift store! If you don't have a lot of cash (who does?!), books, art, frames and furniture can be snagged for great pricing at thrift stores! Have fun making your home fun!
OH! And don't forget a rug, even if you have carpet. Grounds the space.
Thanks very helpful tips.
I did something similar in our sun room this past spring! I loved it, it was so bright and cheery! Here it is: https://www.aratariathome.com/blog/springtime-in-the-sun-room
