Take a class, watch utube videos, read a book. Many communities have adult education extension classes, some craft and hobby stores have free or low cost classes. Just Google to see what might be available in your area. Here are a few links to get you started! A fun craft for sure.

Cornstarch and white school glue mixed to a consistency for shaping as clay. Shape your pieces, let them dry, and use craft paints for colors.
I use Sculpey or Fimo, a lot of patience and really good tools. If you're a newby, I'd suggest a book or two on making jewelry - there are all types out there, so find one YOU like - and don't expect too much on your first time or two. You'll get the hang of it quickly and learn the tricks and obstacles. It's really a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Thumbs up!
Good Morning Betty Brunswick Hickman :) (what an impressive name ! ) Well, I am not sure if you are talking about clay as in terra cotta clay or polymer clay or paper clay but I am posting something about both :) I love this sort of thing, as do my grandchildren, and I love telling folks about it, too :)
