Makes me curious. A heavy what?
Two good choices. Something called a "lag shield" where you drill a hole and slide one of those babies in then use a lag screw to hold the "heavy" off the floor. Other choice is called a "Tapcon". Specially engineered hardened screw. You drill a smaller hole then install using an impact gun or drill and the Tapcon makes its own threads in the masonry.
There are brick clips you can buy. You can also use nails made especially for brick or mortar but you will want to make sure you always intend to cover the nail with something because you don't want it to be there with nothing.
