How to make a rope gate for bottom of stairs

A net would barrier may be better, child safety gates work well for pets too.

The dog could chew through rope! Maybe use Wire mesh on a frame of either Metal or Timber or Plastic Pipe.......

I would go with the kid barrier. (easier) If you want to make a rope net, you can use some scrap pvc and string the rope through it.

You can get some mesh wiring for an easy gate-you can even spray paint it white so it's a little more pleasing to the eye.
