How to refinish a old home sewing machine?
I have an old home sewing machine, I haven't checked it over completely but I will take pictures and send. I am not sure how to start. I would like to refinish it and take the old sewing machine out of it and use it for a desk or??

Hi there! Hometalk has a few posts from people who have done this with different types of sewing machine tables. Perhaps you'll find some inspiration. https://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=Sewing%20Tables%20in%20Upcycle
What type is It? Iron base, wood? If you had a picture, that would help us help you.
Hi Fay, this one is for a bar cart, but you could use it as a desk

Is the table big enough to use as a desk? I know the old one I have is really small. It is one of the early electrics and makes a good stand, but it isn't really big enough to use for a desk. I plan on making mine into a plant stand when I can get around to refinishing it. I plan to strip it and retain it, I think mine would be better restained than painted, most all of the furniture in my house isn't painted, I guess I am just a purist when it comes to my furniture.
