If you damage the wall when installing any wall covering you are doing it wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT0EsBta4TU

I dont know what kind of look your going for but my project I'm taking plywood cut it down to fit a panel of wall paper. I'm sticking the wall paper on then stapling it in the back. I'm going to line them up on the wall with a gap in between. This gives it a 3d look. And no wall paper on the wall. It is a wall mural I'm doing this with.
Back in the 70s we used to wallpaper walls in apartments in this manner if the fabric is not too heavy .all you have to do is dip it in its solution of starch .starch and water and press it against the wall firmly getting the bubbles out letting it dry drying it would be their hair dryer maybe Steeple just around the edges. Later you’ll be able to take it out without destroying the wall in any way. It was fun and easy.💥☀️☀️🌎yeah for the 70’s
Maybey 1 or several thin curtain rods, you can bunch or leave flat!
I used a mix of cornstarch and water to paper a wall in my office, I'm sure you could use it for fabric. The best part is that it's so easy to remove too. See the info on my blog: https://humboldtartdept.blogspot.com/2014/05/office-papers-papered-wall-done-yay-fun.html
