Can you possibly post a picture?
I use mine for display area
Shelves can be used for anything. Where are they; kitchen? If so, antiques, decorative dishes, baskets.
Are the shelves up high and go all around the room? I have seen some people that display beautiful plates on them. But you could use them for anything that you collect....angels, roosters, tea pots, tea cups, boxes....etc.
In design, I try and find as many different lighting possibilities as I can because it warms up a room and makes it more inviting. Generally speaking you have lamp lighting, the light that comes from your window, candlelight and uplighting. What about displaying some glass or crystal pieces and add puck lights to shine down from above Them? The crystal will catch the light beautifully! You can get them with timers and remotes do you don't have to be climbing to turn them off. Hope this helps!
