What to put in this huge mason jar?
I have a HUGE mason jar. I would like some ideas on what to put in it for decorations, other than flowers.
Go to a big box store and get a HARP. They are in the lighting department.
If that won't work for you, some shades are made with a round wire clamp that fits over most light bulbs - all except the corkscrew ones.
I made a similar light cover and I just used the screws in the fixture that usually hold the glass globe in place. I slipped a washer over each screw to be sure and secure the new cover. I hope this makes sense.
How did you make that? Its so awesome 👏
Frannyjane57, until Doreen can answer, I will guess that she used a balloon inflated to the size she wanted her lamp shade and wrapped it with twine that she had soaked in a bowl of glue for a couple of minutes. Once the wrapping is done, allow to dry.
This is turned out so adorable! I'm curious about whether all the twine was wrapped in one sitting before drying or if it had to be done half at a time and dried in between. Also Doreen, did you coat the twine with anything for extra durability before or after popping and removing the balloon?
I think the tiny lights look great in your shade.
You can purchase a light kit from Home Depot, Lowe's, etc., It should have the hardware you need to attach a lamp shade. You could also hang your jute lamp with just a hook in the ceiling. Either method is effective and inexpensive. Hope this helps. p.s. Love what you created.
