Sorry, I forgot to say I am going coastal themed.
Sometimes all it takes to change the look of the decor is to spray paint/paint it.

Nautical is all the rage right now! I have bowls with sand and shells. Some fish net (purchased at Michaels) and a cool sign that says "Life's a beach."

Bring in shades of sea and sand. Maybe sea glass or driftwood. Add whimsy with mermaids or fish décor. Maybe put a sea sponge in a white-washed basket. Fun project!
i like taking baskets and putting different colored rolled up hand towels in them. That way, you can make an easy change by changing out the colors. reusing jars is also fun.
Like idea with the towels. Already have several baskets. Thanks.
I loved all of these suggestions! Thanks.
You can begin by painting a pretty soft green or blue and then adding in your decor items. Think textures more than literal beach items.
Choose a theme and shop for items that will support it. Add extra storage above the door by putting a shelf and baskets.
