How much does the mural weigh and what are the dimensions?
you can get a thin piece of wood and glue it to the very top 2 inches of the material then attach pic hooks to the back of the wood. If you don't want to do that you can get clips like the kind that holds paper, (staples) Use the holes in the hooks to hang on a nail on the wall. I think a bunch of them would be best.
Yo can purchase the removable 3M plastic hooks for these kinds of jobs. Just make sure you purchase the correct ones to carry the weight of your object.
Use command adhesive hooks. They cone in heavy duty sizes for items of 8 lbs maximum, so you will need either a hook fire each side, or even 3 or 4 hooks to place at the height you want to place the mursl. The more hooks have the stronger they will be in larger numbers. These adhesive hooks have a removable adhesive, so if you need to take the hooks down to move to another home. You said you can't attach anything to the mural, buy maybe you can either use binder clips available at Walmart, or office supply stores. That have metal clamps on one side and a u-shaped hooks that can attach on the adhesive hooks to hang the mural. Good luck Teresa.
If I'm reading you right. U have a mural for your wall but you can't attach it TO the wall itself. I would recommend that you get 2 beams (4x4 or 2x2) & stand them flush in the corners of that wall from floor to ceiling. Add a cross beam (4x4 or 2x2) at the top to create a frame. Attach a piece of fabric like a sheet or painter's cloth to the frame with tacks or very small nails. Attach your mural to it just around the edges of the frame instead of the wall. If you want to dismantle it later, just remove the mural & cloth from the frame & remove the cross beam for easy storage.
If the mural is paper or other light weight material buy and use Poster Putty. Starting in center soften a wad of pp, press it on the wall, press the center of you mural here. continue, with the help of another person, along the top of your mural to the side dabbing wads of pp as you go. Again starting at the bottom center add pp across the whole bottom as you did for the top. Now pp the sides making sure you have no bulges. If you do, carefully lift the mural away from that area, add more pp in that spot, press to secure and reattach. Poster Putty will not harm walls bare or painted or papered. Poster Putty can be reused time after time. Simply soften by massaging with your fingers. then reuse.
To form a hook type, flatten a small wad of pp press on wall in a in a half inch strip. Place the paper, lap a small tab of pp over you paper, press, done. This works great on cinder block walls. Comes off easy, leaves no marks.
