It really is just a matter of what look for a gallery wall you like best, you can view sample ones online, and then layout your stuff in arrangements on the floor first to see what looks best:

Use that as you focal point then proceed with your grouping s of photos

Depending on how much space you have it would be neat to lay out pictures, like a family tree is laid out, but that would take up lots of room, and if you have lots of siblings and nieces/nephews lots more room, still it would be very interesting.
It might be better at the top. A chart would show, you and your husband then underneath that your children and if any of them are married, their mates and any children they might have. Then over you and your husband would be the two sets of your parents, then above that the four sets of their parents etc. etc. etc.
I would put the tree in the middle and then the other photos around it, grouping family units together. I would unify it with like frames.
