I hot glued red Mardi Gras beads (from JoAnn Fabiric) around my large mirror. Went well with my Bohemian decor.

You could also use fence panels they have a rustic look.Lowes has them for less than $2 a piece.I am pretty sure they measure 6x4 but the ends are rounded. They may come in a longer size not sure.We have used them for all kinds of projects around our house.

I think the above answers are excellent. I have used molding to frame my mirrors. I usually buy the fake wood ones because (a) they withstand the humidity of the bathroom better without having to do the sealing step and (b) it's lighter so it stays in place better with just glue. A tip for framing your mirror with wood or a wood like product: Glue the piece on and only nail the edges. This will keep it in place securely without the risk of breaking the mirror (which is always possible whenever hammering around it). I used liquid nails to do mine but I was getting the house ready for resale. Had I intended to stay, I might have used Elmer's glue so it would be easier for me to change it out down the road when my taste (or mood) changed.
