Ideas for blank wall office space?

KatAych
by KatAych
Hello! I've got this space right behind my chair in my office...it's a big blank spot and it's always bugged me...I REALLY want to put something here, just not sure what. My latest idea is origami butterflies - colorful, and would give a "3D" look to this space.
My office is decorated in a tropical/Hawaiian theme - LOTS of bright colors everywhere...
There's not a whole lot of space so I can't put shelves or anything that sticks out too far...and I don't need a calendar as I've got one on another wall...
Any other brilliant ideas out there??

The second picture has some turtle type shapes on the shelves. I would print those or use an overhead projector to be able to draw them on the wall. I wouldn't use the "normal" colors for turtles. I'd use those bright, beautiful colors to paint the turtles onto the wall. This would help to bring your room together and tie it all together. I hope this helps.

Honey, everything in your space is you. You are missing one small open hole just above your head, watching over you and everything you do... Sounds to me you've been waiting to put the right thing in that very special and important spot. By reaching out, I think you said it...I REALLY WANT Oragami Butterfly's in 3D and very colorful!!! You go girl!

Hawaiian? Did you know that quilters in Hawaii have a different technique and design of quilts? You could search on Etsy to preview some of the quilt artists. Perhaps you will find something that you'd like. If it doesn't fit the area or isn't the colors you want you could always contact the artisan. Another thing you can do is begin a collection of shells and sea glass then attach them to a shadow box. Then there's the opportunity also of making a collage from vintage Hawaiian postcards (EBAY). Finally, you surely know about Heather Brown? I love her artwork! Her posters are reasonably priced as are her matted prints. http://www.heatherbrownart.com/

@Sauve Yes, I am familiar with Hawaiian quilting - in the last picture, you can see the Hawaiian quilt runner that I have on top of the filing cabinet underneath my photo display. :-p I wasn't familiar with Heather Brown, though - will check out her artwork, thanks so much!!! My living room at home also has a Hawaiian theme. Thanks so much for the great ideas!!!

Hi you said you cant paint or have something sticking out to far, what about if you did some fun wall talk with a nice quote theres so many to choose from. Then when you walk in to your office its something to inspire you with. It removes easily and just goes on quite easily!

You have a beautiful office set-up. Personally, I would stay away from additional personal themes. It is an office. I would use something relating to the company. What the company stands for or some other marketing theme that clients would see when they enter the office.

@Cindy Mullins Thanks for taking the time to answer, Cindy! I actually work in the senior living industry - at the Corporate Office. Currently, we operate 4 senior living communities, but we never have clients come through here at the HQ. Our symbol is a heart, so maybe whatever I do could be heart shaped or themed...hhhmmmm....lots of ideas from you wonderful folks out there!!!!

You are most welcome. Maybe, put it on canvas. I think they would be beautiful in all of those bright colors. Your office is a very welcoming space.

You're welcome! I have a college friend who was from Hawaii. We have lost track of one another over the decades. After college she returned to the islands. You caused me to remember her fondly. Thank you!

Why not use some of what you have? Maybe hang the sea turtles and the lei in some sort of arrangement. It looks like you have some interesting items!

Murals are nice and colorful. I am sure you could find one with your Hawaiian theme.

You could make lots of origami models in different colors and stick them on the wall: hearts, flowers, birds, butterflies...
