You could make the tin man from the Wizard of Oz. Or you can put them on an outside wall by your kitchen door for an herb garden, paint them to match or bring a smile.

You could make wind socks or wind streamers from them.

There are some awesome projects using tin cans on Hometalk. Search Tin Cans to find them: http://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=tin%20can .

This isn't for outside but I got some restaurant size cans. (son-n-law got me from his job at a restaurant) Anyway, I had my husband attach a 2 inch board approx 4 feet long onto my craft room wall (important to hit studs) If nails are not centered it doesn't matter. You won't see them. Next I cut 1/2 inch strip of felt that has a sticky side. Then I folded it around the inside rim of cans so it wouldn't cut or scratch hands. He put the cans touching each other. I then had him screw a screw into the bottom inside the can and into the board. (Only need 1 screw each). He did 2 rows for me but I want 2 more rows. I'm a crocheter so I used these to put my yarn in them so I will see all my stash easily and have no trouble finding the colors I need. Then on top I placed any I have rolled into balls. They sit nicely in V that two cans make when put side by side.
