Help me pick out wall mural for small european apartment

by Zsuzsa
About a year an a half ago we remodeled our small apartment in Budapest (you can find the before here after on my blog). However, even though the apartment is practically done, a few finishing touches remain. There is a wall in the bedroom where I have been thinking of putting a mural.
The wall I am talking about is the far wall that is opposite the bedroom window, not the one the bed is against. Another future project will be a headboard for the bed and that will take care of that wall.
Below is another view of the blank wall to the right of the the built-in closet and the bed. It is white and empty. My solution? A picture mural.
And this is where I am asking for your input. I found a web site that turns photographs into murals. It is an awesome site with probably millions of photos to choose from. My idea is to use an architectural photo of a Budapest landmark, preferable in black and white, or very little color. Below are some of the images I found. Which one should I put on the wall?
Liberty Bridge
Parliament Building detail
Fishermen's Bastion detailFoggy
Foggy Budapest
Castle Hill Stairs
Parliament Building
Royal Palace
Which one of these photos is your favorite? On my blog you can find a link below each photo - it will take you to the mural web site where you can see the picture on a wall of a room. My wall is almost a perfect square: 2.4 meters wide and 2.38 meters tall. Please vote in the poll on my blog! Thanks for your help!

Liberty Bridge seems as if it would fit your room. Great idea by the way.

I like the stairs... makes it kind of feel that you can expand the space that way.

I've always wanted to try a mural on a focal wall. Great way to expand your space and make it seem larger. Since its a bedroom and should be restful, I am thinking that the Foggy Budapest mural might be the best choice. But the Castle Hill Stairs would be nice too, as it would give the illusion of a headboard. Make sure you show the after pic!

On 2nd thought I think I like either of the bridges. They stretch out so the whole wall will not be covered. Maybe make the room apear a little longer......

I know you are talking bridges, If you can color, you can do the same thing. You can do a large tree. For the grandkids I made '100 Dalmatians' & 'Under the Sea' themes. I took simple coloring books you find in the kids sections, rented an over-head projector from the local library and when I projected the images on the walls I just did an outline with a lead pencil. Fill in the colors with water based paints and if you want to do any 'shading' you can. When you get tired of the murals, just paint over them and they are gone.

They all look like great pictures to me, I would also have a hard time determining which one to choose. My suggestion would be to opt for the least busiest picture. Reasoning for this is the room looks like it may have limited available space and making it busy may tend to give you a crowded feeling. Your bedroom is your one place to go and relax, determine which picture puts you at ease and relaxed and I think you would have your choice! ;o)

If you are planning to do both walls - then I would use the Liberty Bridge and wrap it around, it would give a great feeling of space to the room. I would position it at about headboard height and paint the lower part of the wall an ocean blue. I would water down the paint and paint the water in the picture so it all flows together. If only doing one wall then I would pick the Castle Hill Stairs. Both pictures give the sleeper a pleasant dream, one is floating on water and the other is taking the stairs to heaven. I think the other pictures are better suited for a dramatic entry hall then a bedroom, unless you think it would inspire your guest(s) not to stay too long! LOL

These are all so cool! Where did you find them?
    • Zsuzsa Zsuzsa on Jan 24, 2015
@Yvonne Day Aka Miss Ruby The photos are from a site called pixersize.com. If you click on the link on the bottom of my post, you will get to my blog, and there under each picture is a link to the pixersize page for that picture. You enter the dimensions of your wall and they resize the photo for you.

Stairs - definitely the stairs...the wall would look as though there was somewhere beyond that wall...it would definitely draw the eye to that wall...I would crop it so that the photo's existing floor and the partial arch at left would also be cut out; then you could add faux subtle brick on the rest of that wall...plus for a bedroom it's the most romantic of all the photos...

Stairs are the way! Makes the room look massive and would give a feel of where will they take us today!

Are you looking for a soft mural made of material or hard framed or frameless mural?
    • Zsuzsa Zsuzsa on Jan 24, 2015
@Nancy Jenkins Pixersize murals are vinyl. They have three different quality. No frame, full wall size.

I like the stairs to nowhere,

I like the bridges, especially the Liberty Bridge. I think the scale better suits the room. The others seem a little massive for the space. IMHO

I love the first one, the Liberty bridge, as a muralist, I would think that the bridge gives great depth and distance.but it is also soft in perspective...it would not overwhelm your space and and make you feel that you are being slapped in the face by the image being too close and large in perspective....
