Can I mount a puzzle on an art canvas after gluing it? Or glue direct?

Can I mount a puzzle on an art canvas after gluing it or can I just glue it directly to the canvas. My puzzle is the same size as the canvas.

you can also cover it with a couple of coats of mod podge. Then glue it to the canvas or even put it into a frame with a canvas board behind it. -

"Back in the Day" when I did puzzles, I put them together on cardboard, then applied a ton of Elmer's Glue (all we had 'Back in the Day'), then I would glue the back. I put hangers on some, and put the others in picture frames. Now, I would use Mod Podge, but do it in the same way.
