What are you using shims for Pink Iris? If you are shimming kitchen cabinets you just push/pound the shims in adding as you need to.

Normally the two ends don't come together until you are using 2 shims or your break/cut the one you are using. We normally drive the thin end into the gap until it is sufficiently braced and then cut it off.

What are you shimming Pink Iris? You usually start with one shim and then add if you need more. The thin end is the part that you push/pound in-one of top of another if you need to add another shim. You can even break them off if you don't need to go the whole thickness to get your level. Sometimes it only takes a part of a shim or part of a second shim.

For shimming. One shim goes on top of the other. Thin ends. then pushed together for adjustment.

If I'm understanding this correctly, flip the shims so that the thin and thick ends are on the same side.
