You can purchase stencils in most retail stores, craft stores and online. Stencils can be used to decorate walls, furniture, mirrors and any flat surface. The main concern when using stencils is to make sure the stencil doesn't move when you paint over it. If it moves, you could have a hot little mess. So practice first with the tape you plan on using. Another problem with stencils is paint running outside the pattern. So, be careful not to use too much paint. Practice makes perfect. Have fun!

Stencils can be used as previously stated for about anything you have. Imagination and little elbow grease can turn a glass, mirro, journals...

I have used them to fancy up furniture projects. This was just one of those cheap pressed wood wood grain bookshelves that I painted with enamel paint and did a poppy stencil on. I've also used them to paint on fabric, the doors to my cabinets... the possibilities are endless!
