When I was a kid, I had a net (just regular mesh) that we nailed into a corner close to the ceiling, and that's how I stored my stuffed animals. Maybe you could buy some net and do it that way, further down on the wall?

I have no kids, thus no teddy bears, but came up with an idea that might work.
If you can find a crib somewhere you could put the bears in it (maybe looking out the front between the 'slats' and stack more bears on top peeping out over the top rail. Or whatever...
It sounds like this is a serious collection of fun objects. I would give it a more serious form of display and I thing showing the bears together rather that scattered is a very good idea. By formal display, I mean set up on shelves or the branch swings (Love that!) rather than loose in nets or something else. I would use that for toys children will play with.
I collected rocks from around the world. I used a world map and labeled the rocks so I & others would have a visual too!
Why don't you spend some time dressing them to match the place the bear came from or you make banners put a shelf around the top of the room stand baskets sideways and show so many wonderful fun ways mostly depends on how much you actually want to display Good Luck and have fun with it
One of my neighbors collects teddys. She created those floating shelves near the ceiling and placed the bears on those. For a few of her "special" bears, she made shadow boxes with glass covers and mounted those on the walls also. Then added some of those string lights along the top edge so you could see the bears easier. I really liked how it turned out. I'm sorry I can't take a photo for you as she is on vacation.
I had a gift shop and we had a few white birch trees (branches) we put upright in a clay pots and poured plaster of Paris in the pot. Once it set, we displayed the bears as if they were climbing up the trees.
So many ways to display! In a baby carriage, bassinet, crib. On chairs. You can find doll chairs in specialty shops. On sleds or rocking chairs. Just on a shelf with books in their laps and hands. Shadow boxes made from drawers or other wooden boxes.
How about a cute cupboard like this one?
I remember making a "tree" of sorts for my daughter's "friends". I used a closet pole attached to a base with a lug bolt. Then I put cup hooks on the pole, with placement roughly determined by the size of each stuffed animal. Then just hang each bear by something on their "outfit", a ribbon around their neck, or attach a small plastic ring to the back of the bear. She really liked it, and it made it easier for her to choose a "friend" to accompany her on any outing!
I saw an idea that I loved............in a childs' room the mom took many different
sizes and patterns of crown molding and hung them all over the wall and at all different levels. Mom put baby treasures on the shelves
It looked soooooooo cool
Where ever you put them I would add a sign that says " Please don't feed the bears ".
Definitely keep bears together rather than displayed in different areas. If you do not want them touched I would Flea market and find an old bookshelf or hutch. Paint it a neutral background color and display bears. Smaller ones could be sitting on tiny chairs or benches, larger ones might hold a similar baby bear. If you want them to be touched and looked at, find an old trunk or cabinet, set bears on it. Use different heights. Extra bears can hang on wall behind it on shelves, or even sit on the floor. I think you need to look at your lifestyle.,,do you want this strictly a display just to look at, or hands on?
