Traverse pins to other attachments?

Comet
by Comet
I have several traverse rods in my house and have a hard time finding affordable curtains to put on them. I like being able to use the pull cords as some of these are not easy to reach to pull the curtains aside or close them. How can I use the traverse rods with some OTHER form of curtains? Is there some sort of different pin system to use? I don't want these to hang below the rod and leave a big gap or look silly! The only attachments I have used are the ones that slide up into the "Pinch Pleats" and these are hard to find. Any help greatly appreciated---would like to make new simple curtains for a few of these and not break the bank!

Check out a local Joanns fabric store. In the Home decorating department there are the necessary tape to make any curtains or material for use with traverse rods.

I had the same issue on a very large window in my living room. I took off the curtain hooks and then used tab top curtains. You didn't even notice the gap you refer too where the pull cords used to be ( I also removed my cords )

@Comet I'm actually in the process of doing this. I have a large window with traverse rods, and also like to close them at night. I purchased 4 panels of rod-pocket type. I sewed two together to make 2 larger panels, then made pinch pleats. Actually as pretty easy. Here's the tutorial I used :http://shannonberrey.com (How to pimp out your store bought curtains)

Thanks all--will be looking into @Dee's suggestion altho not much of a sewer at this time. Kind of hoping for something I could use to clip between fabric and the attachments on the rod so I could still use the cords as other wise moving the curtains is hard to do and these are direct East and WEst facing windows and one for a shift worker--must be able to close!

@Comet She used rings with clips that she modified for the traverse rod. If your curtain panel is already wide enough, you wouldn't need to sew them together (I did that avoid paying for custom sized panels). You might be able to use her idea with the rings with a little modification of your own. Good Luck!

Check at your local fabric store to see if they know someone that can sew the panels together for you and make the pinch pleats. Work out an inexpensive fee to do it if you are not much of a sewer. You can also put a call out at a local craft store for someone if you can't find someone at the fabric store.
