I love the OOK style brass hangers that have one, two or three holes for tiny nails. They hold up to 100lbs and leave holes small enough to fill with touch up paint.
I used self stick velcro for small pictures (8X10) in my trailer...they hung there for years. I just applied the velcro to each corner of the picture, then pressed it on the wall. Just make sure you get it right the first time. Measure!! No reason why it wouldn't work in a house that isn't moving.
