We bought a 1915 house with lots of character. Problem hanging items.

Plaster and lathe walls covered with at least 3 layers of wall paper. I want to hang pictures and also some items in kitchen. I painted over wall paper and looks good but how do I hang items?
Thanks bunches!

Use small drill bit to drill hole for nail or use the removal command hooks. I have the same trouble as my house was built 1850-1890 & brick out side walls.

Keeping in the character of the house, put up picture moulding and use picture moulding hangers.

There are packages of plastic cones which you tap into any plaster and the screw comes with it so it fits properly. The plastic cones come in two types: one that looks like a screw and the other with a toggle that opens up at the back once you hammer it into the wall. This prevents the cone from coming out. Check out your hardware store for these items. The other thing you might want to try is the 3M plastic hooks which are removable.
