I want to plank a wall with vinyl floor planks. However, I cannot make the planks stay on the wall. I can't nail because that would mar the planks. Is there a solution to this?

My suggestion is to go back to wherever you bought the planks and ask them for the adhesive .They will give you a better answer since you are putting them on the wall.

Make sure the walls are clean from dust and dirt. Check for any bumps or irregular spots and scrape them off with a putty knife. The walls need to be smooth. Use a spray adhesive, like 3M Super 77. Lay out your tile design on the floor so there is no confusion when putting them on the wall. Spray a small area on the wall with the adhesive. Remove the paper backing off the tile. Line up the tile and press in place. Rub over the the tile with your fist to make contact with the adhesive and remove any air bubbles. Continue on.

Try using the wainscoting technique and put an upper molding across the top so it aids in keeping the planking in place.

Liquid nail or a tube of monkey glue adhesive... spread lightly on the sticky side
