I have a beautiful Kashmir silk rug which I would like to hang on a wall. The dimensions are approximately 5ft x 3ft. It weights approximately 3 kg (6.6lb).

If you don't want to alter the rug, check into a hanging quilt rack. They are generally wood, so you can repaint it if decor colors change, and it just clamps the material between the front and back, so no altering to potentially reduce the value of the rug. You just clamp the rug between and hang it on the wall.

Here are two ways to hang rugs. I've used both methods. Good luck. It's a gorgeous look.

    1. Take a 1x2 piece of lumber and cut to the size of the rug. Velco comes in two parts. Staple one part to the the rug from the back. On the front of the rug make sure to fold over any staple prong that did not fold over. The thin staple will not damage the fabric and will be virtually invisible. Even though the velco comes sticky, it will not hold the weight of the rug. Nail or stable the other part of the velco to the 1x2. Nail to the wall and attach the rug.

    2. Sew tabs onto the rug. Use a curtain rod and hang on the wall.
